Actor Jordan Ford
Actor Jordan Ford is about to graduate from theater school. He came to me by way of Rylee Bunton who did some acting headshots with me late last year. I love working with actors. It always turns into a 90 minute or two hour session because they're doing what they do and I'm doing what I do and together we're having a lot of fun. This was especially true with Jordan who, while I think he could play anything he wanted, had an infectious laugh. It was fun capturing so many different sides of Jordan and I know he's going to do well. The top two photos are a new lighting set-up for me. Well with in the last 9 months or so. It's a derivation of Peter Hurley's light set-up which has become so popular. It's a great set up for acting headshots which do well lit in a flat manner. This is achieved by creating a square or triangle of light around the subject's face with light. In my case I use strobes Peter uses HMI or continuous lights. There's little difference in the final image. I change the lighting set up throughout the session as you can see by some of the other images in the post here. So what happens is that we get lots of choices from the session. I'm very generous with actors in session. It's a natural fit working with an actor. Someone who loves a camera posing for someone who loves to shoot a camera. In this case the camera loves Jordan as would anyone who meets him!
