Advertising photography is a tough nut to crack. The stakes are high for everyone involved. Budgets can be in the hundreds of thousands and the jobs are coveted by commercial photographers all around the world. An advertising test shoot is basically a "vanity" shoot for the photographer. You hope to get more work from it but it falls into the category of "personal work." This is the first time I attempted something like this. I called upon a previous customer of mine Felipe Sousa who is a fitness trainer. Felipe, either because of genetics, will power, or equal measures of both, maintains about 5% to 6% bodyfat all the time. So here's always ready to go for photographs. I was crazy busy at the time and couldn't put as much effort as I would like to. So I went with something very simple and versatile. That was to shoot Felipe on a black sweep with negative space for ad copy. The following are the results.
I'd love to work with you on a project to advertise your business. My goal is always to create the highest quality work possible. "Good enough" is not acceptable. I'm always striving to create images that would be at home in the most established publications.
