Should you come to the studio or get your professional headshots on location?

This is a studio session for Sudhakar Iyer who was looking to update and enhance his profile. I'm sometimes asked where the better headshot would happen. In the studio or on location. The issue is really budget and how much time you have to allocate to the session. It also depends on how good a model you are. That is how relaxed your expressions are and how long it takes to get the kind of takes you're looking for. The studio most always produces better results for a number of reasons. The most important is that you have dedicated a chunk of time to the task. When I go to someone's office it's usually because they are looking to save time and can't be out of pocket very long. They're never really checked out of work and unless their a great model their expression often suffers due to the preoccupation. The other factor is that when I'm brought on location it is usually to shoot a number of people. When lighting a group of people we have to maintain a consistent look so the lighting isn't is as flexible. Depending on the shape of your face we can really dial in a lighting set-up that is most suited to you. Like anything, individual attention and focus of purpose usually produces the best results.
