The trend for a different headshot backgrounds continued for me through 2021. I'm writing this in the first week of 2022 and already I'm talking to companies who want "something other than gray". In my opinion it's worth the extra time and effort. There's pluses and minuses to every scenario but somehow we (my clients and I) always manage to find a solution.
The trend for a different headshot backgrounds continued for me through 2021. I'm writing this in the first week of 2022 and already I'm talking to companies who want "something other than gray". In my opinion it's worth the extra time and effort. There's pluses and minuses to every scenario but somehow we (my clients and I) always manage to find a solution. In the case of ParkMobile we used a view through the window. An unforeseen issue arose in that, the window cleaners were long overdue. The marketing director Kevin Graham, came up with a simple and elegant solution of blurring the background just enough so the dirt blended in with the foliage. The foliage is actually on the other west side of the downtown connector from the building which is on the east side of the connector. A big thank you to ParkMobile for making it easy to park, pretty much anywhere in the world these days!

This is a great example of adding on an extra retouch and getting an additional look. You could also add a jacket to either shot to vary it a bit.
The Law Firm of Legare, Attwood, and Wolfe
Legare, Attwood, and Wolfe were looking to update their headshots to something more contemporary that wasn't a plain gray background. They are located in the city of Decatur. Easy walking distance to the old Decatur City Courthouse. On set with me that day were make-up and hair artists extraordinaire Faith Brooks and David Hamblen who also did onset grooming. It's always going to be a great day with David and Faith on set!

An editorial style shoot of Satoria Vestrucci and Stefano Bremer CEO Tommaso Melani shot at the Intercontinental Hotel in Atlanta. Tommaso was in town meeting clients and Atlanta stylist Joshua Davis works with Tommaso often.
Tommaso is a true artisan based out of Florence. He is the CEO of bespoke shoemaker Stefano Bemer and tailoring house Sartoria Vestrucci. Both brands are handcrafted in Florence, Italy. The other fellow is Atlanta based stylist Joshua Davis.
Professional Headshots for Politicians
Running for a local city council. The outdoor shot is my front yard. When my wife had a Crepe Myrtle removed I feared the worst but it actually made this view much better. Of course the second is a tried and true studio look which makes it easy to add copy.
STV - Atlanta
Buidling a railroad system? STV are the folks to call! This is the second office of STV I've shot. The other was in the suburbs in Duluth. The Atlanta office, understandably so, is much more compact so the interior did not yield anything as exciting as what their window view had. There was barely enough room to shoot the subjects and get the view through the window. I had them sit on a vent very close to the window and then expanded the window margins in post-production to get a 4x5 both shoulders in crop.
TM Capital
Very simple corporate headshots using the "view through the window" as a different, unique, and urban background. These are some of my favorite jobs. I think it's a refreshing look. This is on a 5th floor of the Promenade between 14th and 15th. Minimum disruption to your business, in and out with one trip, the whole thing took less than an hour.
